Experience & Expertise
1. Cultural Resources/Antiquities Regulatory Guidance and Consulting (Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations at 36 CFR Part 800, The Antiquities Code (Texas Natural Resource Code, Title 9, Chapter 191) and accompanying Rules of Practice and Procedure (Texas Administrative Code, Title 13, Chapter 26): based on state and federal regulations/laws, etc. (hourly and daily rates). I can provide guidance for every phase of cultural resource management from initial planning through Phase I, II, and III investigations and provide an approximate idea on a per project basis of cost, personnel, and timelines for permitted projects required for state and federal regulatory compliance as well as descriptions and explanations of compliance work involved. In short, I can tell you what you are getting into, why, who you need to talk to (city, county, state, federal, tribal) how much it may cost (e.g. $10,000 or $1,000,000), and how long it may take (30 days vs. years), as well as offer alternatives that others may not have considered.
2. Educate and provide guidance to management and staff concerning protection, obligation, and liability for cultural resources/antiquities as well as general and specific information concerning prehistory and history in the Americas and parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia. My experience as an educator, instructor, and lecturer includes public and private agencies, military and civilian personnel, primary through high school, undergraduate, graduate, and senior organizations.
3. I can also provide technical assistance and media content, with respect to prehistory and early history in the Americas, for radio, television, and film.
